06/27/15 13:08 Garnet A1041718, Emerald A1041726, Jasper A1041725, Sapphire A1041720, and Peridot A1041727 are being surrendered because the owner of the cats is of old age and can no longer care for them. The daughter brought them in for her. She states that her mothers home is in very bad shape. She says that she will be bringing in 2 other cats later in the day. A staff memebr spoke to her parents and got consent from them to allow the daughter to bring in the cats. Due to the nature of intake, no information is available homelife/behavior. Behavior during intake According to the owners daughter, all of the cats are very friendly and when you come in through the door, they all run up to greet you. They are very independent in the home. During intake, they allowed all handling-scanning(negative), collaring, and photographs. They took food and water and allowed petting. They are all friendly and easy to handle.

06/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Sapphire was at the front and was calm and relaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Sapphire remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Sapphire remains in place for petting, seems indifferent to touch, and starts to groom himself. Reaction to being picked up: Sapphire remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Experience Sapphire interacts with the observer, seems to appreciate attention, allows handling and tolerates all petting. Please note that he came in with a pre-existing medical condition, and it is difficult to tell at this time how the condition may be influencing the behavior. We feel that placement with experienced cat adopters is in Sapphire’s best interest.
