11/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Uggs was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He became nervous when approached on intake, and was trying hard to escape. He would hiss and swat, and looked to flee when the counselor extended their hand. He did, however, allow slow handling during his initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Uggs becomes stiff and alert upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Uggs attempts to hide. Reaction to cage door opening: Uggs attempts to flee. Reaction to touch: Uggs hisses and spits. He continuously attempts to flee to avoid contact with the assessor. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Uggs is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
