07/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Pepperdean was calm and relaxed upon approach. When softly spoken to, he lip smacks and looks away from the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Pepperdean remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Pepperdean sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows stroke on his head and body, but remains wary of the assessor’s hand and is cautious of touch each time the assessor reaches in to pet him again. Note: Pepperdean was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He did not allow handling upon intake, and became extremely defensive during his initial medical exam. He seems to have acclimated well into the care center environment and now tolerates gentle petting, but is still wary and unsure during the interaction. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Penny Lane tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
