MICKEY’S owner moved and after 9 years couldn’t be bothered to find pet-friendly housing. So gentle, 9 yr old MICKEY is at the ACC and on the list. 05/22/15 14:05 BASIC INFORMATION: Mickey is a neutered gray/white 9yr old cat. Mickey has no known health issues & was given to owner as a gift 3 yrs ago. Client has moved to a residence that does not allow pets. SOCIALIZATION: Mickey is relaxed & affectionate towards children 10 and up. Mickey has not been exposed to children younger than 10 yrs of age. Mickey plays gently around the children he has been exposed to. He has not lived with other cats, dogs or other small animals. Mickey is litter box trained and does not have accidents outside of litter box. He has been kept indoors only & has a medium activity level. Mickey is playful, friendly & affectionate. BEHAVIOR: Mickey does not tolerate baths, but will allow trimming of his nails. Mickey also enjoys when owner brushes his coat. Mickey may struggle to get into a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Mickey uses clay litter inside of a hooded litter box. He does not enjoy using clumping litter and may not go potty inside of litter box if clumping litter is used. Mickey enjoys playing with balls & catnip toys. Mickey enjoys scratching on a scratching post made out of carpet. When owner is home, Mickey tends to be in the same room. Mickey plays gently with his owner. He enjoys eating wet food 2X per day from brand, Friskies. As a treat owner will at times give Mickey yellow cheddar cheese or tuna. Mickey loves to sleep next to his owner. One of the most liked things of Mickey, is he stretches out like a grown person and then snuggles when it’s time for bed. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE: Mickey appeared tense & timid. He allowed petting. Once placed inside of carrier, Mickey began to hiss when he heard another cat hissing. Mickey tolerated most handling.

Owner Profile: Mickey was relaxed & affectionate towards children. Mickey played gently with the children. He has not lived with other animals so his behavior towards them remains unknown. Mickey is said to be playful, friendly & affectionate. Mickey is litter box trained. Notes: At the time of the assessment was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices he relaxed a little and I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. I was also able to pick him up. Although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but remains neutral (2) When spoken quietly: does not come to front but remains neutral (2) Reaction to door cage opening: retreats (2) Reaction to touch: seems indifferent to my presence and touch (2) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling but tense Placement Determination: Experience
