11/29/15 08:36 Profile wasn’t left due to kitten being stray. Behavior During Intake: Vernon was brought into the facility in a cat carrier provided by the finder. Upon arrival Vernon was at the back of the carrier hiding in the blanket that was placed in with it. When I reached in to see if it would allow me to pet it Vernon hissed and darted around the carrier in attempts to flee from my hand.

Vernon came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Vernon was nervous and attempted to flee. Reaction to assessor: Vernon is lying in the back of his cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Vernon remains motionless. Reaction to cage door opening: Vernon cries and becomes tense. Reaction to touch: Vernon allows petting and attention. Reaction to pick up: Vernon is tolerant of this type of handling. Placement Determination: Experience Vernon does not approach the assessor, appears fearful, but allows petting and handling. Vernon is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents who can help him adjust slowly to a new home environment.
