***GONE 08/19/15*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY CALICO TORBIE KITTEN, DUMPED FOR ALLERGIES, HAS A GREAT BEHAVIOR RATING, BUT THE ACC WILL KILL HER ANYWAY – PLEASE GRANT POOKIE A DEATH ROW PARDON!!! Gorgeous POOKIE, a stunning calico and torbie kitten just 18 months of age, was dumped into the kill-happy ACC due to ALLERGIES. At home, Pookie was a very INDEPENDENT miss: “Pookie is described as an aloof cat that seeks out affection when she wants it. Pookie has lived with 1 year old and 4 year old children and was respectful of them. She would rub up against them when she wanted attention but would run off before the children could play with her. She also lived with a Shih-Tzu dog and rarely interacted with the dog because the dog would bark at her and she would run off. She likes sleeping in bed with her owner.” What’s not to love about Pookie? Yet the heartless ACC will MURDER this charming kitten at noon tomorrow, despite the fact that she’s PERFECTLY HEALTHY! The ACC claims that they NEVER kill healthy cats & kittens, but poor Pookie is PROOF that they DO INDEED kill them, on a daily basis. Please give this pretty princess a second chance at a loving forever home, Start RIGHT NOW to apply to foster or adopt precious kitten POOKIE! If you can’t save POOKIE yourself, please SHARE her sad story and PLEDGE for her rescue!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pookie is described as an aloof cat that seeks out affection when she wants it. Pookie has lived with 1 year old and 4 year old children and was respectful of them. Her owner stated that she would rub up against them when she wanted attention but would run off before the children could play with her. She also lived with a shih-Tzu dog and rarely interacted with the dog because the dog would bark at her and she would run off. Reaction to assessor: Pookie looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Pookie remains resting on her cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Pookie hesitates in place then hisses at first, but accepts the touch and flinches with ears down to her side with pupils fully dilated. Placement determination: Experience / no child Pookie tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
