04/20/15 19:55 Zig Zag is a stray cat with a black coat. Zig Zag was surrendered as a stray. At intake the cat stayed quiet in the carrier and all the way to the back. Zig Zag allowd the counselor to touch the top of her head, but did not move forward for the counselor. The counselor did not scan or collar the cat at intake to avoid anymore stress for the cat.

Notes: Zig Zag was brought to the shelter as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Zig Zag is displaying behavior appropriate for a beginner cat owner. Reaction to assessor: comes to the front of the cage, soliciting, rubbing against the cage front (1) When spoken quietly: stays at front, continues soliciting attention (1) Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft & relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: solicits petting and attention (1) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling.
