09/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Yert was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was brought in with numerous other cats and was nervous upon intake. She was slightly difficult to handle due to the fact that she was brought in with multiple cats in a large carrier. Despite her nervousness, she allowed all handling during her initial medical exam. Reaction to Assessor: Yert is hiding behind her litter box with her body low against the ground. Reaction when softly spoken to: Yert focuses on the assessor and her ears tilt sideways. Reaction to cage door opening: Yert remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Yert becomes stiff and alert as the assessor approaches her. She sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows brief petting, but slowly backs away after and lip licks. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Yert tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
