SYLVESTER – A1060134
Gone 12-15-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 12/15/15*** PERFECTLY HEALTHY SYLVESTER IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE HE IS HOMELESS!! SYLVESTER and his brother Tika A1060134 were living outside in someone’s yard and were familiar to this person but he suddenly felt compelled to trap them and dump them in the ACC. SYLVESTER is only a big kitten – about 7 months old. He is afraid and not really used to handling but did allow brief petting on the head and was only trying to avoid touch without being aggressive. However, the ACC slapped this boy with a EXPNOCHILD rating which was good enough to get him on the list tonight. SYLVESTER is adorable with his pointy ears and spot on his nose. He only needs some patience and socialization and he will be a great pet. IF YOU CAN FOSTER OR ADOPT THIS GREAT CAT PLEASE HURRY AND CONTACT A RESCUE NOW. HE ONLY HAS TIL NOON AND THE ACC IS NOT GOING TO WAIT MUCH PAST THAT TO SEE IF SOMEONE WANTS HIM. MAKE THE CALL NOW!

12/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sylvester was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder says he is very independent and does not allow her to pet him or pick him up. Sylvester remained in the corner of his carrier upon intake, and would raise his front paw and retreat when the counselor extended their arm towards him. He was very nervous during his initial medical exam, hissing and attempting to flee. Reaction to assessor: Sylvester was inside a hidey den upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sylvester comes outside of the den and meows. He attempts to sniff the assessor by the front. Reaction to cage door opening: Sylvester retreats back into the den. Reaction to touch: Sylvester peeks his head out by the opening and shows interest in interacting when softly spoken to, but he would shift away and go back into the box when petting was attempted. He allows brief petting on his head, but shifts away from contact and gently pats the assessor’s hand with his paw without nails. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Sylvester tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
