08/17/15 17:26 Oscar is a 7 year old male neutered black and white domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered because the owner is moving. Oscar has been living with his family for almost 7 years. He lived with 2 adults, no children and another cat and a small dog. Oscar lived with the dog for only a year and owner reports they would chase each other and Oscar would sometimes flee to higher ground. Oscar uses a litter box with clumping litter. When people visit the home Oscar tends to flee. Oscar is an indoor cat. The cat that Oscar lives with is his litte mate and they may swat each other and become agitated when near one another. Oscar have not been bathed or had nail trims. Oscar enjoys being brushed and picked up as well. Oscar may struggle to go into a carrier. Oscar does not have toys and owner reports he is very low activity. Oscar uses a cardboard scratching mat which he enjoys. Sometimes he may also scratch the couch. Oscar eats dry food and when the family is home he likes to be where they are but may also go on their own. Upon intake Oscar was not handled. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) and photograph in the carrier but did not collar.

Reaction to Assessor: Oscar was resting in his cage upon approach. He slowly comes to the front when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Oscar becomes alert, but remains calm. Reaction to touch: Oscar head-butts, begins to purr, and warms up completely. He rubs his entire body onto the assessor to solicit attention. Reaction to being picked up: Oscar remains calm and allows handling. As per previous owner, Oscar has been living with his family for almost 7 years. He has lived with two adults, another cat, and a small dog. He may swat at the other cat at times because they become agitated when near one another. During the year he has lived with the dog, Oscar and the dog would chase each other around the home and sometimes Oscar would have to flee to higher ground. He has not been around children and he tends to free when people visit the home. Oscar enjoys being brushed and picked up as well. Behavior Determination: Average Oscar interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
