***GONE 07/24/15*** MYA IS A BEAUTIFUL 9 YEAR OLD GRAY GIRL WHO IS JEALOUS OF A NEW BABY- SO RATHER THAN TRYING TO SOOTHE HER FEARS, THE OWNERS DUMP HER IN THE KILL HAPPY ACC! MYA has lived with her owners since she was a kitten and found as a stray. She has been the purrfect kitty up until they brought a NEW BABY home. Since then, MYA has soiled a few times outside her litterbox, but ONLY when the baby is around. The poor girl is jealous and afraid this baby was taking her place – so she let them know by soiling outside the box!! BUT RATHER THAN GIVING HER MORE ATTENTION AND REASSURANCE, WHICH IS WHAT SHE NEEDED, THESE OWNERS DUMPED POOR MYA IN THE ACC. MYA IS STRESSED IN THE SHELTER AND WILL NOW DIE ALL BECAUSE THE OWNERS DIDN’T TAKE THE TIME TO SPEND WITH THEIR CAT. PLEASE GET THIS SUPER KITTY OFF DEATH ROW AND BACK INTO A HOME. SHE IS NOT SICK AND IS ALREADY SPAYED. ALL SHE NEEDS IS YOU!!!

07/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Mya becomes stiff and alert upon approach. She starts to growl when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Mya remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Mya was a little hesitant of touch, but she remains in place and allows petting on her head and back. She closes her eyes and lowers her head during the interaction. As per previous owner, Mya is fearful around children and will try her best to avoid them when they come near her. She is litter box trained, but since the arrival of the owner’s baby she only uses her litter-box at night. She hisses at the baby and will have accidents outside of the litter box 3-4 times a week. When she feels comfortable, she will not soil in the home. She usually just spends time alone at the house, and the owner says she is shy and fearful with strangers. She likes being picked up and held like a baby, and she also enjoys being brushed. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Mya tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent and may need time to warm up to her new home. Her previous owner does note one concern; she seems to have accidents outside of her litter box when she doesn’t feel comfortable. We advise any potential adopter to be prepared for this behavior, and prepared manage it if it appears in a future home. Methods of managing and attempting to modify this behavior can be discussed with the Adoption Counselors. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
