07/17/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/17/15 15:23 Violet is a 1 year old female white and black domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered due to allergies. Violet has been in the home for 2 months. Violet lived with 1 adult and 1 small dog. Violet was receptive to the other dog in the house but at times could be overwhelmed when he is exhuberantly playful. When visitors come to the house the owner states she is curious and receptive. Violet is an indoor cat who used crystal litter. Violet has not yet had a nail trim or bath so owner cannnot report on that. Violet is tolerant of being picked up and doesn’t mind riding in the carrier. Violet likes wand toys. Violet had a scratching post made of rope but she prefers to scratch wooded furniture as well as rough floor mats. When the family is home she will seek petting but can also be independent and go to her own place. Violet likes both wet and dry food. Upon intake Violet was very receptive to introduction. Violet was loose for all handling including scan for microchip (positive) collar and photograph. Violet was very curious about her surroundings but was easily startled by a rolling chair in the office that was in motion. Violet was easily re-assured picked up and placed back to the carrier.

07/20/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Violet was at the front and was calm, relaxed, and friendly. When softly spoken to, she meows softly and rubs her cheeks onto the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Violet remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Violet was a bit hesitant of touch, but leans on the assessor’s hand and remains in place for petting. She continues to solicit attention, but nips when touched on her lower back. When continuing to pet her in that area, she plops on her back and grabs the assessor’s hand with both paws, and kicks gently while nipping. She was very gentle, but started to make grumbling sounds. As per previous owner, Violet has lived with 1 adult and 1 small dog. She was receptive to the dog in the house, but can get overwhelmed when he is exuberantly playful. She is curious and receptive to visitors that come over. Violet is tolerant of being picked up and doesn’t mind riding in the carrier. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Violet is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated and/or plays roughly. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Violet becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.
