JEMIMA’s bio reads “Jemima has lived the past two month with 2 adults and a 2 year old child. Jemima was relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and gentle during play with the young child. She has not lived with any other cats or dogs to know how she would behave around them. She did live with a turtle and she liked to sit on top of the tank and watch the turtle. She is litter box trained and does not have accidents outside the litter box.” YET, at the ACC she starts off her interview well and then ends up biting the fake hand….AND what does that tell you?? PLEASE GIVE THIS LOVELY GIRL A CHANCE. SHE LIVED IN A REAL HOME FOR TWO MONTHS WITH NO PROBLEMS!! CONTACT A NEW HOPE RESCUE AND OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT JEMIMA TONIGHT!! DON’T BELIEVE THE ACC HYPE!!

07/22/15 15:33 Basic Information: Jemima is domestic short hair with a ticked gray tabby pattern. The owner found Jemima as a stray cat 2 months ago and is being surrender because the owner’s son is allergic. She has not been to the vet but has no known health problems or injuries. Social Life and Personality: Jemima has lived the past two month with 2 adults and a 2 year old child. Jemima was relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and gentle during play with the young child. She has not lived with any other cats or dogs to know how she would behave around them. She did live with a turtle and she liked to sit on top of the tank and watch the turtle. She is litter box trained and does not have accidents outside the litter box. She has been kept indoors since found and has a medium/high activity level. Her owner describes her as playful, confident, friendly, assertive, and affectionate. Behavior: Jemima has not been given a bath to know how she would react to them. She enjoys bring brushed, picked up and held. She is afraid of having her nails trimmed. She is not bothered when placed in a carrier or when woken up. For a New Family to Know: Jemima is used to clumping litter inside a hooded litter box. She likes to play with balls. She does not scratch on the furniture. She likes to follow people around the home. She is gentle during play. She is quiet during car rides. She is used to being free fed dry Buffalo Blue cat food. She likes to sleep in bed, under the bed, in the closet, or in her cat tree. Intake Behavior: Jemima sat in the back of the carrier with a tense body. She allowed to be pet and taken out of the carrier. When she was the counter for photos she was tense and held still. She was easy to be collared and placed back in the carrier. She did not show any stress or aggressive behaviors.

Reaction to Assessor: Jemima was resting upon approach. She meows and rolls onto her side when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Jemima remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Jemima head-butts the assessor vigorously, but starts to whine during the interaction. Her tail pilo-erects and when the assessor continues to pet her, she grabs onto the hand and bites down while whining. She doesn’t let go until a minute later and starts to stress meow. As per previous owner, Jemima has lived with 2 adults and a small child. She is relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and gentle during play with the child. She has not lived with any other cats or dogs, but would sit on top of the tank and watched the turtle. She was described as playful, confident, friendly, assertive, and affectionate with a medium-high activity level. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Jemima is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to bite and only tolerate petting or handling for a certain period of time. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
