HERON – A1051706
Safe 9-21-2015 Manhattan Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
****SAFE 09/21/15**** It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that this beautiful two year old is completely petrified in the shelter system. Heron was brought in by an individual who saw her hanging out in a backyard. She was a lamb. During her initial medical, she was an angel and she was truly wonderful getting her photos done. But, she wasn’t found of the whole safer process! Because of that she is New Hope only and needs a rescue to help her make it out alive. One test shouldn’t determine whether a living being lives or dies…except at the NYC ACC. She has till noon.

09/16/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/16/15 17:33 Heron was found in a backyard. She allowed her finder to put her into a carrier, bring her inside, and then bring her here the next day. She was social and relaxed with her. Heron had a soft, relaxed body during intake and handling-scan (-), collar, petting, picking up, positioning for pictures, and putting her into a kennel. She even maintained this during her initial exam, including while I held her like a baby to have her abdomen shaved to search for a spay scar. Heron was very easy to handle and didn’t resist/retreat/vocalize.

09/19/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Heron looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Heron remains crouched down by the front of the cage, yowling in place. Reaction to touch: Heron does not allow the stroke, strikes, and hisses at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Heron is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. She is stressed extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
