CRANBERRY – A1059218
Safe 12-9-2015 Staten Island
***SAFE 12/09/15*** 14 WEEKS OLD WILL DIE TOMORROW WITHOUT YOUR HELP! Fourteen-week-old Cranberry was brought into the SI ACC in a trap, marked down as just another unwanted ‘feral’ kitten. But yet this little one has allowed petting. CRANBERRY is NEUTERED which means he was either being fed in a colony or was at some point someones pet. Why would someone basically dump this kitten at a place where there’s a good chance he’ll pay with his life for being there? That is, unless you step forward and offer to foster or adopt this little guy. He’s just 3 1/2 months old-a tiny loving KITTEN. Give him a chance and save his life!!! Save CRANBERRY NOW!!!!

11/30/15 12:39 Profile wasn’t left due to kitten being stray. Behavior During Intake: Cranberry was brought into the facility provided by the finder. Upon arrival Cranberry appeared to be afraid and was thrashing around the carrier in attempts to flee. When I extended my hand to see if Cranberry would allow handling it hissed and swatted towards my hand. Due to this behavior I was not able to handle Cranberry at the time of intake.

12/05/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cranberry came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Cranberry hissed and did not allow handling. Reaction to assessor: Cranberry is lying in the back of his cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cranberry remains motionless. Reaction to cage door opening: Cranberry appears tense, ears flat. Reaction to touch: Cranberry allows petting all over body, but is tense. Reaction to pick up: Cranberry is tolerant of this type of handling, but shaking. Placement Determination: Experience Cranberry does not approach the assessor and appears to be fearful, but tolerant, of handling.
