7-8-2015 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
***SAFE 07/08/15*** AUTUM IS ONE OF FOUR KITTENS DUMPED IN THE ACC BY AN OWNER AND NOW SHE WILL DIE FOR A COLD! AUTUM is one of 4 kittens who are 9 months old. Most likely they are siblings and lived together from kittenhood. AUTUM is not feeling well with a cold and the ACC has put her on tonight’s euth list alone after listing her two siblings last night – Alkatraze and Amigo – whose status is not known at this time. AUTUM deserves a chance to get out of the shelter alive and only YOU can help her do that. She was described by her ex owner as being friendly and playful and likes to follow her owner around. AUTUM got an EXPNOCHILD rating because she is afraid and that is to be expected. CAN YOU HELP THIS POOR GIRL? GIVE HER A DEATH ROW PARDON TONIGHT BY CONTACTING A RESCUE NOW TO PULL HER TO SAFETY.

07/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Autum was surrendered by her owner, having lived her whole life in her previous home. She was not exposed to children, dogs, or cats aside from the littermates she lived with. She is described as “playful, confident, friendly, fearful, and quiet.” Autum did not tolerate handling and attempted to flee during intake; she hissed and swatted during her initial medical examination. She appears not to have acclimated well to the care center, and she is not thriving in this environment. Reaction to assessor: Autum is at the back of her cage, body low, when approached. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains tense. Reaction to touch: Autum lowers her ears and hisses as the assessor reaches to interaction. Based on this response, the interaction is ended to limit distress. Placement determination: Experienced adopters without children Autum’s previous owner describes a social but fairly independent cat with limited exposure to new people and new animals. Based on this and on the behavior demonstrated in the care center we recommend placement into a home environment quickly, with experienced adopters who will allow her to acclimate to her new home and new family at her own pace. We also recommend a home without children.
