SUWANEE – A1057350
Gone 11-15-2015 Manhattan
** GONE 11/15/15 ** SUPER SUWANEE GORGEOUS, HEALTHY BOY NEEDS YOU! A volunteer writes, “Suwanee may be show-stoppingly handsome but he’s far from over-confident, and I find him curled up at the back of his den, trying his best to disappear into the wall as those mesmerising green eyes warily follow my every move. I make a peace offering of treats and when I return a few minutes later they’ve disappeared–the first small step on our road to friendship. Though it clearly frightens him at first, Su allows me to gently rub the side of his face and scratch the special spot just above his eye while he squints with pleasure and settles deeper into his winter neck ruff. He’s recently groomed himself and as I admire his fluffy tail I see that it’s curled around the most unique and adorable surprise…giant footsies! They’re big enough to double as snowshoes and I wonder if there’s not some Maine Coon up Su’s family tree, it’s so easy to imagine him dashing through icy forests with these beauties at his disposal. He may not have gotten off on the right (giant) foot at the Care Center but it’s clear Su is a gentle boy simply trying to protect himself in a frightening environment and patience is the key to your shared happily ever after. He yearns for love, attention and quiet companionship just like any other cat but his fears are holding him back…will you be the one to set Suwanee’s true heart free?” Wow! Doesn’t three year old Suwanee sound positively purrfect? This fab fella is also healthy but that won’t stop the ACC from killing him tomorrow afternoon if we don’t do everything we can to save him tonight. Please reserve Suwanee online. Or let a rescue know if you can help. Transportation is available. Suwanee only has tonight. We are his only hope. Don’t let him down!!!

11/09/15 11:17 Suwanee A1057350 is a young white/brown & black marble tabby mix who was trapped in the Bronx. The finder brings in the cats/kittens they catch in their traps. During intake Suwanee was hissing, growling and fled from the trap and attempted to scale the walls. He/she was transferred into a kennel which he retreated to the back of attempting to hide but remained motionless when spoken to and given food/water. Due to his behaviors we were unable to collar him/her initially or to take his/her picture on the back drop.

11/12/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Suwanee looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Suwanee remains crouched position, body held tightly, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Suwanee hisses at first, then accepts the stroke on the head, but stiffens up with ears down to his side and began to lip lick. Placement determination: Experience / no child Suwanee tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
