SHELDON is three years old and a mellow kind of guy who used to like to be brushed in his owner’s lap…..We can see that he feels betrayed, he doesn’t want to eat or interact with the assessor and on top of everything he has the shelter cold. 11/03/15 12:27 BASIC INFO Sheldon is a 3 year old Domestic Shorthair that was given to his prior owner as a gift when he was just a couple weeks old. She fed Sheldon from a bottle until he was able to eat independently. Client has unfortunatley moved to a place where they do not accept pets and has turned to ACC to seek him a new home. SOCIALIZATION Sheldon is friendly/outgoing with strangers. He has lived with a house of multiple adults and has always been calm and affectionate despite the gender. Sheldon however used to hide a lot when their recent newborn son was brought home and he seemed very timid of the baby. Sheldon has never lived nor interacted with any other cats or dogs. BEHAVIOR During car rides Sheldon would meow/cry. Sheldon would attempt to flee from the tub during baths and when being placed into a carrier. He isn’t bothered by having his nails trimmed. Sheldon is said to enjoy a good brushing session in his owner’s lap. He likes to picked up/held sometimes but after a while would flick his tail and struggle to get away. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Sheldon is described as friendly, affectionate (at times), playful, independent & quiet with a low-medium activity level. He’ll sometimes follow the owner around. Sheldon enjoys playing with ball toys and chasin g string. Sheldon is an indoor only cat who sleeps in the bed with his owner. He eats wet food, Nine Lives brand, 2-3x a day. Sheldon never scratched on furniture or drapes. Sheldon is not nuetered and tends to spray around the house. BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE Upon intake Sheldon was very vocal and struggled when being handled by both admissions counselors and his owner. He was able to be collared and scanned negative for a microchip.

Reaction to assessor: Sheldon does not come to front but was displaying calm behavior When spoken quietly: Shelon does not come to front but was displaying calm behavior Reaction to door cage opening: Sheldon remains motionless Reaction to touch: Sheldon seems indifferent to my presence and touch Try picking cat up: Sheldon is tolerant of this type of handling very a limited time. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Sheldon was displaying calm behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but allows attention and tolerates all petting. Sheldon is displaying behavior appropriate for experienced cat parents.

Scanned negative BARH – initially allowed minimal handling, but rapidly escalated into growling and attempts to scratch/bite. Toweled for exam. M~ 3 years Ears, eyes, nose, mouth clear. Minor gingivitis on gums. Healing scratch across forehead above left eye. Smaller healing scratches on right eye and right ear. No swelling or d/c. Unable to examine coat closely but appears clean.
