PINTA – A1051949
Gone 10-3-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 10/03/15***Pretty PINTA! She is a brown striped tabby cat, only 4 years old. She was taken in as a stray by the owner, who had too many cats in a small space. So poor PINTA got dropped off at the shelter, where she is now in dire need to a life-saving rescue! This sweet girl likes being pet, but if it’s too much, she will let you know! She would be great in an experienced home with no children. She tolerates being held, and is friendly, assertive, talkative and affectionate. Who could ask for anything more in a cuddly cat companion? This little cutie is only 4. It would be tragic for her life to end today!! If you have a space where you can foster or adopt PINTA, you can be her furry cat angel. She will reward you in purrs and love!!

09/18/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/18/15 20:16 Basic Information: Pinta was surrendered because her owner had too many cats in a very small home. She stated she had Pinta for 4 years and she originally got her as a stray. Pinta has never been to the vet. The two thing her previous owner liked most about her are; she loves to cuddle and she’s affectionate. Social Life and Personality: Around children Pinta is respectful but doesn’t play. Around other cats she is tolerant but also doesn’t play. Pinta is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. Her activity level is medium and she can be described as friendly, assertive, talkative, affectionate and independent. Behavior Issues: Pinta has never bitten a person or another cat. She is afraid of baths and struggles when she’s given one. She is also afraid of having her coat brushed. She struggles when she is picked up or held or if she is put in a carrier. She isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping. For a New family to Know: Pinta used clumping cat litter in an uncovered litter box. She doesn’t like to play with toys. To scratch she used the furniture that was carpet material. When her previous owners were home Pinta would tend to be in her favorite spot. She didn’t play with her previous owner. Pinta ate dry Meow Mix. At night Pinta slept in her previous owner’s bed. Behavior during intake: Pinta had a fully relaxed body, allowed handling and allowed me to collar. Her pupils were normal, she purred and meowed and showed no signs of aggression.

09/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Pinta is respectful around children but doesn’t play. Around other cats she is tolerant but also doesn’t play. Pinta is litter box trained and was kept indoors only. Her activity level is medium and she can be described as friendly, assertive, talkative, affectionate and independent. Pinta has never bitten a person or another cat. She is afraid of baths and struggles when she’s given one. She is also afraid of having her coat brushed. She struggles when she is picked up or held or if she is put in a carrier. She isn’t bothered if she is disturbed while sleeping. Reaction to assessor: Pinta comes to the front of the cage – rubbing against the bars. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pinta stays at the front of the cage – continues to solicit attention by chirping and rubbing against the bars. Reaction to cage door opening: Pinta remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Pinta arches into the stroke while hissing. She then gently swats the assessor’s hand, without claws, and retreats to the back where she rolls over. Behavior Determination: Experienced, no children. Initially Pinta solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to hiss at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Pinta becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
