12/02/15 18:15 Malala is a 2 year old female torbie colored domestic shorthair cat who arrived as a stray surrender. Upon intake Malala was receptive to introduction and loose but shy for handling. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Malala allowed petting and returned to carrier on her own.

Reaction to assessor: Malala ignores the assessor When spoken quietly: Malala hisses without looking at the assessor Reaction to door cage opening: Malala become stiff, alert and continues to hiss Reaction to touch: Malala hisses and lifts her paw to swat Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Malala seems to not be thriving in this environment. At the time of the assessment Malala was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful and currently does not like being petted or handled. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
