***SAFE 12/21/15*** ZELDA lived with cats, a poodle, and a larger-breed dog, plus she has a super AVERAGE rating and glowing volunteer comments! She is 13 years old and had been gifted to her ONE AND ONLY family as a kitten, but that “allergy” surrender reason makes a person think someone just pitched her into the shelter because of her age. Or, because of their contemptible nature—take your pick. Read her flawless volunteer comments and then work relentlessly to save GORGEOUS ZELDA, tonight! “A volunteer writes: I’m Zelda, the mini-panther–elegant and sizable–I’m commanding looking, but have that true heart of gold that matches my eyes. I could be a deity, I’m so elegant and have seen a lot in my 7 lives. As a mature female I have experience on my side and know how to make Humans happy. I came into ACC one night and within a short time I enjoyed a catnip jamboree–I knew how to have a blast–rolling and head butting my new toys. It was so entertaining people enjoyed just watching me play. There’s no doubt I will be prized by my new owner. And, that could be you…If you’re looking for a chic all black feline with brains and worldly sophistication. I’m your purrrrfect companion. The volunteer updates: I am compelled to write this additional bio because visiting Zelda is a highlight of volunteering at ACC. She draws you to her with her magnetic gold eyes. But what’s so impressive, beyond her size or sheer black beauty, is her amazing personality. If she could speak she’d say, “Hey, I’ve got it cooled here. I’ve got you covered.” She’s outgoing, calm, lovable and affectionate–all in a shelter setting. Imagine what she could do for you at home?! She loves to play and has miles of good times ahead of her. For anyone who may be concerned about her age, let me tell you, Zelda is redefining my idea of young, as she’s such a player and is so into the moment. She’s timeless……. you won’t be disappointed.”

12/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Zelda’s previous owners stated that she has lived with two other cats, a poodle, and a large breed dog. All the animals were tolerant with each other and interacted with each other comfortably. She was kept indoors only and does not mind being picked up and held. She was described as friendly, affectionate and obedient with a low activity level. Reaction to assessor: Zelda was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Zelda slowly comes to the front and attempts to sniff the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Zelda remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Zelda head-butts lightly and leans into petting. She continues to solicit attention and is very affectionate throughout the interaction, but she may emit a growl sound randomly. This sound does not appear to be a warning or a distance-increasing behavior, and none of her body language matches that normally seen when a cat is growling, so at this time we are unsure how to interpret this response. The assessor continues to pet her to see if she will become agitated, but no further response was displayed. Reaction to being picked up: Zelda remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Zelda interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. There is no known history of behavioral problems. We recommend using care when interacting with Zelda, especially while she is still adjusting to her new home, but otherwise we feel that she is appropriate for an adopter with an average amount of experience.
