04/04/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Notes: Yolanda came into the shelter very scared hissing and striking but has since calmed down. She now comes to the front of the cage seeking attention, allows petting and is okay with being picked up. Yolanda is now displaying behavior appropriate for experienced cat parents. Reaction to assessor: comes to the front of the cage, soliciting, rubbing against the cage front (1) When spoken quietly: stays at front, continues soliciting attention (1) Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft & relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: solicits petting and attention (1) Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling. Placement Determination: Experience ———————————————————————————————————————- Notes: Yolanda was brought to the shelter as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment she was displaying behaviors that prevent placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to scatch and is extremely fearful. She currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Reaction to assessor: swats, strikes, charges at me (5) When spoken quietly: swats, strikes, charges at me (5) Reaction to door cage opening: charges at me (5) Reaction to touch: does not allow petting at all (5) Try picking cat up: does not allows petting or handling at all. Placement Determination: New Hope
