***SAFE 12/27/15*** WAYNE is such a HIT with the ACC staff, that one staff member even wrote AMAZING comments on his behalf! This beautiful stray was brought in by someone who just picked him up and plopped him in a carrier, so he was most likely someone’s pet who just happened to be outside—wrong place, wrong time kinda thing. Despite being a staff favorite, they will KILL him tomorrow unless a foster or adopter steps up for him, tonight. Please read these gushing comments and then SAVE WAYNE TONIGHT! “A staff member writes: Better stock up on catnip mice, this fun-loving party-animal can’t wait to play! And just because Wayne’s high-spirited, doesn’t mean he won’t find time for cuddles. Whether you’re in the mood for entertainment or affection, this is one cat who’ll never leave you hanging. A volunteer writes: Wayne is the unofficial mayor of the cat adoption room: he’s the first feline to stick out his paw and greet you when you walk in the door. This big man on campus has lots of personalty; he loves playing peekaboo and batting around his toys, but he also takes plenty of time out for snacks from his food bowl and to give head rubs to his human friends. He’s so well behaved, he would be a great addition in any home. Bring Wayne home with you, and this natural charmer will make you the most popular person in your social circle.”

12/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Wayne was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Wayne chirps and reaches out with his paws. Reaction to cage door opening: Wayne retreats to the cubby and becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Wayne focuses on the assessor’s hand and shifts away from it. After a moment, he pounces on the assessor’s hand and grabs it with his paws and nips the assessor’s hand. He applies moderate pressure, but does not break skin. When attempting to take the hand away, he grabs hold of it even tighter and bites down a little harder. It is a little difficult to distract him, but he eventually lets go. He continues to display this reaction to petting each time the assessor attempts to pet him. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Wayne is social and affectionate but appears to play roughly. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Wayne becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a home with experienced cat parents and without children. Date: 11/19/15 Reaction to assessor: Wayne immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Wayne remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Wayne head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. Placement determination: Beginner Wayne interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
