***SAFE 08/20/15*** SECOND CHANCE TO VISIT VENICE!! TAKE A PURRMANENT VACATION WITH VENICE! Venice is a three year old terrific tabby who is purrfectly healthy and friendly but the ACC still plans to kill her when noon tomorrow rolls around because she caught the shelter cold!! Even though this great girl came in as a stray surrender, she allowed the staff to pet and pick her up. She is a little shy (thus has an experience no kids rating) but is very calm, relaxed and would make a cool couch companion. She is a healthy weight and already spayed—all she is missing is a loving home. Can you be THE SOMEBODY IN “SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING?” If so, please open up your heart and home to Venice. Reserve her online or contact a NH rescue for help with transportation (available if you live within a few hours of NYC). Take a purrmanent vacation with VENICE!!!

A volunteer writes: Venice was sitting quietly in her kennel, just watching what was going on with interest. I approached her and started to pet her, she started to purr and even started kissing me! Also a little grooming and playing. Now, I do think Venice might do better in a quieter household without children, but this girl is definitely a lover. She will be most happy to come to you in her forever home. And kiss you.

Another volunteer writes: Ahhhh….Venice…calm, elegant and one big bundle of love. This gentle sweetheart, wants nothing else than unlimited snuggles from you! She’s super friendly and immediately engages in one on one tickles! And OH those eyes!! Kind and questioning…Won’t you give this sweet hunk of love a chance?

07/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Venice was calm and relaxed upon approach. She looks at the assessor and then looks away when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Venice remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Venice sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows brief touch on her head, but shifts away and her body stiffens. She continues to sniff the assessor’s hand, but starts to growl after and lip licks. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Venice tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
