VANILLA – A1060889
Gone 12-23-2015 Brooklyn
***GONE 12/23/15*** Lovely VANILLA is a young stray lady who had a moment of excitement during her initial medical exam, when she got loose and ran around the room. It’s a shame she was unable to escape back to the outside world, because the ACC has plans to kill her tomorrow! Her glowing good health and the finders’ report that she was “being fed by some neighbors” combine to STRONGLY suggest that VANILLA is a pet who belongs in a HOME, not in a black plastic freezer bag. Please advocate widely for a FOSTER/ADOPTER for VANILLA, so she can go back to being a pet, TOMORROW!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Vanilla was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The finder said she was being fed outside by some neighbors. She had a tense body upon intake, retreating to the back of the carrier when approached by the counselor. Reaction to assessor: Vanilla was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Vanilla looks at the assessor and starts to breathe heavily. Reaction to cage door opening: Vanilla becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Vanilla was hesitant of touch, lowering her head and shifting away from the assessor’s hand. She sniffs it, but flinches when first touched. She allows all petting, but continues to breathe rapidly and curls her body close together. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Vanilla tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
