*** SAFE 05/12/15 *** VANILLA IS THE FLAVOR OF THE MONTH!! A staff member writes: “Can I have a home too? Vanilla is our sweetest little lost soul. She shies away in the back of her kitty condo, but she loves being petted and talked to. She opens up slowly like a flower and will rub and purr for you too. With a little bit of patience, Vanilla would be a top-tier housecat, as I’m sure she would love lying out in the sun and rubbing up against her savior.” A volunteer writes – Vanilla is a black and white cutie who would love nothing more than to be loved by someone. She enjoys being petted and loves attention! Vanilla is friendly, but a little fearful. Experienced cat parents would be an ideal match for Vanilla to help her overcome her fears in her new forever home. TAKE THIS TERRIFIC TUXIE HOME TONIGHT!! OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT!!

04/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Does not come to the front but remains neutral. (2) When spoken quietly: Does not come to the front but remains neutral. (2) Reaction to door cage opening: Remains motionless, low body posture. (2) Reaction to touch: Allows petting and attention, but petting on the head aggravated ear mites, which resulted in retreating and hissing. (3) Try picking cat up: Did not attempt, cat is stressed. Notes: Vanilla came into the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. At the time of the assessment, Vanilla is displaying fearful body language, crouched low, eyes wide. Vanilla is further upset by ear mites, but does allow handling and is not fractious. Vanilla is exhibiting behavior suited for experienced cat parents who can help him to adjust to a new home and overcome fearfulness.
