I am a neutered male, black Domestic Shorthair mix.
The shelter staff think I am about 2 years old.
I weigh 9 pounds.
I was found in NY 10461.
I have been at the shelter since Aug 10, 2015.
INTIAL EXAM:
scanned negative
neutered male, ear tipped
s/o:
extremely fractious
untouchable without sedation–did give 0.35buprenorphine–at least 0.1 wasted in first attempt
sedated with 0.1 ttdex
sedated exam: crepitus and swelling around right hip
LHL crepitus around stifle
probable pelvic involvement
severe fractures. Unless feral group wishes to treat, EHR likely outcome
guarded/grave prognosis
reversed 0.05 antisedan
recc SR buprenorphine once wakes up a but—at 4pm gave 0.1ml sq (0.1ml wasted)
gave activl and vaccines
RE-EXAM:
08/11/15
S/O: presented on 8/10. Fractious cat with probable pelvic/hind limb fractures previously palpated under sedation. Visual exam only today due to temperament. Cat is in sternal recumbancy, does not try to stand or walk. Low growl during visual exam. May be uncomfortable/painful.
A: probable pelvic and/or hind limb fractures
fractious (cannot be handled without sedation)
P: if eating, can try giving tramadol (1/4 of a 50 mg tab) in pill pocket/wet food for pain control
Addendum: discussed case with NH – no placement available for fractious/feral cat with severe fractures. Cat appears to be very uncomfortable, suffering. Recommend euthanasia for humane reasons, due to poor prognosis and poor quality of life.
