5-27-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 05/27/15*** LADY CAPULET IS A PREGNANT MOMMA TO BE AND IS HOPING FOR A HAPPY ENDING TO THIS IMPENDING TRAGEDY CALLED THE EUTH LIST. LADY CAPULET is a 2 year old stray girl who was found in a building in the Bronx. Sadly the person didn’t keep her or try to find this girl a home, but whisked her away to the ACC. Now this poor scared momma cat is fighting for her life and the life of her unborn kittens. LADY CAPULET was nervous but allowed handling at intake but when the assessor came along and cornered her in her cage, she became frightened and swatted – so of course she got slapped with a NEW HOPE RATING. YOU WILL NEED A RESCUE GROUP TO PULL LADY CAPULET. DON’T LET HER LIFE END IN ANOTHER ACC TRAGEDY – APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT THIS GIRL NOW!!

05/25/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lady Capulet came into the care center as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was tense at intake and nervous during her initial medical exam, though she allowed handling without aggression. She does not appear to have acclimated well to the shelter environment, and her behavior is deteriorating. During her first veterinary examination she was at the back of the cage and could not be coaxed forward. A few days later during a subsequent veterinary exam she allowed no handling. She has remained consistently at the back of her cage, avoiding interaction. At the time of her behavior evaluation, Lady Capulet could again not be coaxed foward. She was tense and quite uncomfortable with touch, eventually swatting (though without nails exposed, so it appeared to be distance-increasing without doing harm). Reaction to assessor: Lady Capulet is at the back of her cage, tense. She does not respond when spoken to gently. Reaction to cage door opening: Remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Lady Capulet shrinks away from the assessor’s hand but does allow gentle touch on the forehead and cheeks. When touched on the body she turns quickly toward the assessor’s hand. The assessor moves her hand away, and Lady stands and raises one paw slightly. When approached again, Lady swats at the assessor’s hand twice, with nails withdrawn so she does not injure or break skin. No hissing, growling, or fleeing accompanies the swat. Placement determination: New Hope Only While Lady Capulet shows clear warning signs and restraint in her attempt to create distance, she is clearly uncomfortable with interaction and she has not warmed up to her caretakers. We have no history of her behavior in her previous home, so based upon her behavior in the care center we recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can re-evaluate her behavior in a stable home environment.
