***GONE 12/23/15*** TERRIFIC “TUXY” NEEDS A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS…..
A staff member writes: Despite everything Tuxy has been through, you can just tell she has a heart of gold. She found herself in our care center after her previous owner became homeless himself and could no longer care for this sweet kitty. Tuxy is also missing a few front teeth and is in need of a trip to the dentist. But despite all that, she’s as sweet as sugar. She will wait at the front of her kennel for you to pet her and just soaks up all the love you can give. Can you be the one to give this little girl her forever home? Come to our Manhattan Care Center to meet her today. A volunteer writes: I really love Tuxy, she’s such a gentle and endearing sweetheart and we’ve been ‘making eyes’ at each other for weeks now. A tiny tuxedo girl with a big personality, you’ll always find her quietly soliciting attention at the front of her den and once the door is open there’s only two options…either pet-push her back inside or open your arms for a hug! No one is keener for snuggles than she and if you’re looking for a sociable pet with soft manners then Tuxy is the girl for you. Having aced her behavior examination with the best possible rating she’d fit into any home with ease and is already spayed and eager to leave with her new family today. Are you ready to hit the couch with the cute and cuddly girl of your dreams? Tuxy will be right here at the Manhattan Care Center, waiting for you… DON’T LEAVE TUXY HOMELESS, APPLY TO FOSTER OR ADOPT HER NOW!!

11/13/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/13/15 11:24 BASIC INFO Tuxy is a 5 year old spayed DSH cat. He was abandoned with his caretaker 3 weeks ago but she cannot have a cat right now. She sometimes cries and coughs at night. SOCIALIZATION Tuxy is friendly/outgoing with strangers. She doesn’t play and has never bit or scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Tuxy doesn’t mind when someone brushes her, picks up/holds her, puts her in a carrier, or wakes her up. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Tuxy’s caretaker describes her friendly, affectionate, mellow, independent, talkative, and low energy. She followed her around. Her caretaker kept her inside and she slept on her bed. Tuxy ate 9 Lives and Friskies dry and wet cat foods. She got Temptations treats. She usually used her litterbox but defecated on the floor about once per week. She scratched a door mat. INTAKE Tuxy had very soft, relaxed body and eyes while we pet her, scanned her (+), collared her, positioned her for pictures, picked her up, and put her in a kennel. She approached and head butted us. She didn’t resist, retreat, or vocalize.

12/22/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Tuxy was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tuxy attempts to sniff the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Tuxy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Tuxy lightly head-butts and leans into petting, but after a few soft passes she begins to growl and her tail swings strongly from side to side. When attempting to pet her again, she growls even louder and swipes at the assessor’s hand. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Tuxy solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body she begins to growl at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Tuxy becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best with experienced cat parents and without children. Date: 11/17/15 Reaction to assessor: Tuxy immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Tuxy remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Tuxy head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. Placement determination: Beginner Shyla interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
