Tubby Tommy, a six year old neutered grey handsome fella is yet another precious pet who came into the shelter purrfectly healthy and ended up with a dreaded cold which fast tracked him to the at-risk list. Tommy loves attention and being picked up and held. In other words, he is a purrfect mush!!! Seems like he’s caught a nasty URI for which he is being treated. Tommy needs a place to recup and will undoubtedly reward his lucky new purrson with lots of love and affection. Can that special someone be you? Please reserve Tommy online or contact a NH rescue for help with transportation. 06/14/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/14/15 19:46 Basic Info: Tubby Tommy is an approximately 6yr old neutered male DSH feline who was taken off the street as a stray 7months ago and is being surrendered due to the owner moving to a home where pets aren’t allowed. Tubby Tommy hasn’t been to a veterinarian and currently has no known health issues or injuries. Socialization: Tubby Tommy is shy for a few minutes around strangers. He hasn’t lived with or been around children or other animals. Tubby Tommy isn’t playful but enjoys being petted and picked up when he comes to you for the attention. Sometimes when the owner walks into the room where Tubby Tommy is relaxing/sleeping he’ll run and hide for a few minutes. Tubby Tommy hasn’t bitten or scratched any person or animal. Behavior: For the past couple of months Tubby Tommy at times has been “going” (# 1 & 2) outside of his litter box. He hasn’t been seen by a vet concerning this issue. The owner is unsure as to why this is happening. In a car Tubby Tommy will meow/cry. The owner hasn’t tried to bathe him, trim his nails or brush him. If the owner disturbs him while he’s sleeping/resting it’s been by accident and he just gets up and runs away. Tubby Tommy likes being petted/picked up when he wants to (he’ll come to you for it). Tubby Tommy isn’t bothered by being placed in a carrier. For a New Family to Know: Tubby Tommy is described as friendly, affectionate (at times), shy and talkative (at times, he’ll make a chirping sound). His activity level is described as low. When the owner is home Tubby Tommy will stay in one spot. He’s in indoor cat who eats friskies dry & wet food 3x a day. Tubby Tommy uses his uncovered litter box with clumping litter but for the past couple of months he will “go” outside of his box also a few times a week. Tubbby Tommy didn’t have a scratching post and the owner stated he didn’t claw on anything within the home that she’s noticed. Intake Behavior: Tubby Tommy is a large, heavy boy who’s a little shy however he did allow us to scan (pos.), collar and take his picture. We had to take one in his carrier because he was uncomfortable with us trying to take him out and hold him. He retreated his head like turtles do when they want to hide in their shells…super adorable since he has such large cheeks.

06/17/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tubby’s former owner stated he is shy for a few minutes around strangers. He hasn’t lived with or been around children or other animals. Also, described as friendly, affectionate (at times), shy and talkative Tubby’s previous owners report that he was eliminating (urinating and defecating) outside the litterbox for the past couple of months. We are unaware of what, if any, modifications steps were taken to try and address this behavior in the home, so we cannot be sure what the trigger may have been or if this behavior may continue in a future home. However, we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. Reaction to assessor: Tubby looks neutral in ihs cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Tubby remains sitting upright by the front of the cage, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Tubby accepts the stroke, head-butts the assessor’s hand, and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to Being Picked up: He becomes antsy and jumps back into his cage. Placement determination: Average Tubby interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
