10/25/15 16:25 Basic Information: Tom is a three year old cream male domestic shorthair cat. He was surrendered by his owner due to health issues. He was adopted from a shelter as a kitten along with his brother Jerry. He is described as quiet and shy. Personality: Tom has not been around children, other cats, or dogs. He is litterbox trained and will exclusively use the litterbox. He has been kept mostly indoors and is described as having a low activity level. Behavior: Tom’s owner has never attempted to give him a bath or rim his nails, but will towel wash him and he will usually fuss and struggle. When held he will struggle and hiss, he is fearful of being put in a carrier and will struggle. Tom often scratches and claws at furniture. For a new family to know: Tom is used to Freshstep crystals litter and a hooded litterbox. He enjoys balls and string toys. His scratching post was made of wood and was vertical. When home he tends to follow his owner around or be in the same room. He plays gentle with his owner and usually is calm and relaxed in the car. He eats dry food, Purina cat chow and is fed on a schedule, twice a day. He usually sleeps on his owners bed or in a quiet corner. Upon intake Tom was tense had a hard body but allowed all handling. Counselor was able to scan, collar and photograph.

10/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tom was bought into the care center due to his previous owner moving. Tom has not been around children, other cats, or dogs. He is litterbox trained and will exclusively use the litterbox. He has been kept mostly indoors and is described as having a low activity level. Reaction to assessor: Tom does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Tom does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Tom remains motionless Reaction to touch: Tom seems indifferent to my presence and touch at first but he slowly warms up and begins to appreciates petting. Try picking cat up: Tom is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Tom was displaying shy behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices he relaxed a little. I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
