Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Toad attempts to hide behind his litter box upon approach. His eyes become wide when softly spoken to, but he does not turn around to look at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Toad becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Toad was hesitant of petting, but allows it. He lowers his head and twitches when pet on his body. He remains immobile, his ears bend flat against his head, and he lip licks throughout the interaction. Note: Toad was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. The finder reports he was very fearful and would try to flee upon approach. He allowed handling during his initial medical exam, but he continues to exhibit fearful behavior during his stay in the care center. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Toad tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
