Spectacular tuxie lovebug SALEM, just 18 months of age, was dumped into the high-kill ACC due to “PET CONFLICT”, where she quickly caught the attention of an ACC volunteer, who lovingly writes: “This tuxedo missy is as cute as they come! Salem is reserved, but she wants so much to become your next best friend. A little TLC could go a long way with Salem. Why not stop in to meet your next BFF?” At home, sweetheart Salem was “PLAYFUL, FRIENDLY, AND AFFECTIONATE”. Salem snagged a perfect BEGINNER behavior rating for the way she MEOWED for affection & ROLLED OVER for tummy rubs! Did I mention that Salem is ALREADY SPAYED? But the ACC plans to KILL this marvelous little tuxie lady at noon tomorrow, all because Salem SNEEZED. Please don’t let them silence her purrs forever! 04/06/15 15:02 Basic Information Salem is a 1 and a half year old spayed female with no past or current medical issues according to the owner. Social Life & Personality Salem comes from a home with children and gets along with them fine and also plays in a gentle manor when interacting with them. This also applies to other cat as well as dogs according to the owner. Salem is an indoor only cat that is litter box trained. Salem is decribed to be playful, friendly, and affectionate with a high activity level. Behavior Issues Salem has a tendancy to eat anything that is either fabric or fabric like to the point where she vomits. This applies to any type of bedding, stuffed toys, blankets, socks, etc… She was give a plastic box to sleep in and has used it as her laying space due to the issue with her digesting fabric like materials. The owner isn’t sure how she will respond to recieving a bath due to not attempting to since they were about 4months old. However she will allow you to trim her nails with a slight struggle. Every so often she will pull her paw back when trimming the nails. Salem loves to have her coat brushed and he held for a small period of time. For a New Family to Know Salem was brought up using Worlds Best Litter (clumping) litter and a hooded litter box. Salem likes and will play with toys but has to be done under extreme supervision due her bad habbit of eating material. It is recommended to give toys that isn’t big enough to fit in her mouth and doesn’t have any material like fabric. When in the home Salem is the type to follow you around seeking attention. Salem was brought up eating dry food and the brand the owner gave was Organic Whole Foods for Cats.

Reaction to assessor: Comes to the front of the cage, meowing. (1) When spoken quietly: Solicits attention, rubbing against the cage bars. (1) Reaction to door cage opening: Remains soft and relaxed. (1) Reaction to touch: Solicits petting and attention, rolls over. (1) Try picking cat up: Tolerant of this type of handling. Notes: Salem came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who described her as playful, friendly and affectionate. The owner also noted that Salem has a habit of eating fabric bedding and toys, though this behavior has not been noted in the shelter. At the time of the assessment, Salem is displaying friendly behavior, soliciting attention from the assessor and appreciating all handling. Salem is exhibiting behavior suited for beginning cat parents.
