SAFE- 04/17/15 – GENTLE AND QUIET JASMINE NEEDS A CAT WHISPERER…….A staff member writes: This gorgeous girl came in as a stray, but the people who found her gave her a bath before she came in, so she really might smell like the flower she’s so named after. She’s gentle as can be, though she is a little shy with all of the new smells and sights in here. She’d love to warm up in your home and find the love she deserves. Come meet Jasmine today! 04/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jasmine came to us as a stray on 4/04/15. Upon intake it was reported that Jasmine was not receptive to handling. The finder stated that they were able to handle her in the home, and bathe her without Jasmine showing any signs of aggression. The assessor observed Jasmine in the back of the cage with nervous body language and dilated eyes. When the assessor actually opened the kennel door, Jasmine quickly retreated back in the kennel and seemed fearful of the assessor. She allowed the assessor to touch her, but did seem indifferent to the assessor’s presence and touch. The behavior department feels that Jasmine would do best in an experienced home. She should be given the opportunity to interact at her own pace, and time to acclimate to her environment. Reaction to assessor: Does not come to the front but remains neutral with dilated eyes. (2) When spoken to quietly: Attempts to hide from you once start to speak (3) Reaction to cage door opening: Retreats (3) Reaction to touch: Accepts the touch, but has dilated eyes, with slightly tense body language (2)
