SAFE- 04/19/15 – SECOND CHANCE FOR BEAUTIFUL CRYSTAL, PLEASE MAKE IT COUNT TONIGHT! “She seems to not be thriving in this environment” is pretty much the understatement of the year. Crystal is only 7 months old and she’s “not thriving” in the shelter environment because she is scared out of her mind! She is missing her lower incisors, she’s thin, she’s defensive—if ever a kitten needed some hope for the first time in a very LONG time, that kitten is Crystal. Speaking of hope, Crystal can only be pulled by a New Hope rescue tonight, so please share her far and wide……

04/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Notes: Crystal was brought to the shelter as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of this assessment she was displaying unpredictable behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting but she becomes easily overstimulated and attemptes to bite/swat. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but looks at you, is calm, relaxed and friendly (1) When spoken quietly: comes to the front of cage, soliciting, rubbing against front (1) Reaction to door cage opening: remains soft & relaxed (1) Reaction to touch: solicits petting and attention but becomes overstimulated and may attempt to bit Try picking cat up: tolerant of this type of handling for limited time Placement Determination: NewHope ——————————————————————————————————————- 4/15 eval: Notes: Crystal was brought to the shelter as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment she was displaying behaviors that prevent placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to scratch and is extremely fearful. She currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Reaction to assessor: swats, strikes, hisses(5) When spoken quietly: swats, strikes, hisses (5) Reaction to door cage opening: Hisses, swats (5) Reaction to touch: does not allow petting at all (5) Try picking cat up: does not allows petting or handling at all Placement Determination: NH
