03/24/15 19:02 Sayaka came in as a stray surrender. Sayaka arrived in a trap carrier and was transferred into a regular carrier but not handled. Counselor did not scan for microchip or collar.

A Staff Member Writes: Sayaka is a handsome gentleman who sits at the front of his cage with his paws dangling out just to make sure we’re all on our best behavior. He’s too dignified for belly rubs, but he loves a little head scratching. He lets out little sighs and meows to let me know if I’m being too ridiculous for his taste, but all of this dignity is a cover for his playful side – he loves feathers and pen caps.

Notes: Sayaka was brought to the shelter as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Retreats as I started to get closer. I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. Although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents with no children. Reaction to assessor: does not come to front but looks at you When spoken quietly: does not come to front but looks at you Reaction to door cage opening: remains motionless Reaction to touch: seems indifferent to my presence and touch Reaction to toy or novel object: shows no interest Try picking cat up: Did not attempt/ he was already tense did not want to push.
