10/03/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/03/15 21:21hrs Tiger is a 12 year old neutered domestic shorthair cat that was cared for by his owner since he was a kitten. He is being surrendered because his owner is moving and unable to take him along. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Tiger is described as aloof and friendly. He lived with adults and children aged 5months, 5 and 7 years old. He was tolerant of the children but would normally run and hide when they were near. He was the only pet in the home and didn’t interact with other animals inside of the home. His owner stated that he was allowed to go outside into the backyard of his owner’s building whenever he pleased for the first 10 years of his life but he has lived only indoors for the past two years. BEHAVIOR Tiger is accustomed to his owner bathing him every 3 months. He would sit still in the tub as he is washed. He enjoys being petted but will tolerate being brushed for short periods of time. When visitors would come over he would hide and come out when they left. He would follow his owner around the home whenever the owner was home. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Tiger was used to using an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. He likes playing with cat balls. He had a cardboard scratching post but would scratch his owner’s leather sofa. When Tiger hears sudden loud sounds, he runs and hides. He was fed only Fancy Feast wet and dry cat food, a bowl of each 1x a day. He enjoyed sleeping in bed with his owner. DURING INTAKE Tiger attempted to hide in his carrier with his head facing the rear. When he was touched, he would turn and look but step back. He was able to be collared, scanned for a microchip and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
The previous owner reports that Tiger has lived with adults and children ages 5 months to 7 years old. He was tolerant of children but would normally run and hide when they were near. He has not interacted with any other animals, but he was allowed to go out to the backyard for the first 10 years of his life. He has been kept indoors for the past 2 years. He is accustomed to the owner bathing him every 3 months. He enjoys being petted but will only tolerate being brushed for short periods of time. He usually hides when visitors are over and come back out when they leave. He would follow his owner around the home. Reaction to assessor: Tiger was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Tiger meows softly, blinks slowly, and lip licks. Reaction to cage door opening: Tiger remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Tiger was hesitant at first, but remains in place for petting. He leans slightly on the assessor’s hand and appreciates attention, but seems wary of the environment and continues to lip lick. Behavior Determination: Experience Tiger tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
