*** SAFE 08/10/15 *** DEVASTATINGLY HANDSOME “FLYING TIGER” NEEDS A NEW HOME TONIGHT!! A volunteer writes: I met Flying Tiger shortly after he was brought to our Center by his previous owner. I know that at his age, it must be devastating. He was kind of hiding in the back of his kennel, but when I approached him, talked to him, and then started petting him. Well, wouldn’t you know, within a few minutes, the relaxing, purring and rolling on his back for tummy rubs started. I really felt privileged to have met him. These days his age is really still in the prime of life, he could lose a pound or two but otherwise is perfectly healthy. Come see if he is the one to round out your family to perfection! MATURE CATS MAKE GREAT COMPANIONS!! FIND OUT BY OFFERING TO FOSTER OR ADOPT NOW!!

07/29/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/29/15 16:52 BASIC INFO Flying Tiger is a 12 year old DSH cat. His owner found him as a stray and surrendered him due to her declining health. SOCIALIZATION Tiger is friendly/outgoing with strangers. He hides from small children. He doesn’t play anymore. He lived with a male cat and was relaxed and affectionate with him but hissed when he approached his food. He lived with a medium sized puppy and hissed at him to stay away. Tiger has never bit/scratched anyone. BEHAVIOR Tiger has no known behavior issues. He’s relaxed in the car. He doesn’t mind being brushed, picked up/held, or woken up. He struggles during baths and when put into a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Tiger’s family describes him as friendly, independent, quiet, and low energy. He spends most of his time resting on his cat bed. He sleeps on his back with his tummy up. He lived inside and ate Friskies dry and wet food. He’s littertrained and used his uncovered litterbox with clumping litter without having accidents. He used to have a vertical rope-covered scratching post and scratched that and not furniture. Now, he doesn’t have a post, so he scratches the wooden bed frame and hamper. INTAKE Tiger’s family opened the door and set him on the floor. He walked up to clients and staff with a relaxed body. He allowed us to pick him up, scan him (-), collar him, and position him for pictures. He had a soft body but tried to jump off the table. Otherwise, he was easy to handle and didn’t resist/retreat/vocalize. He head butted me and was very tolerant of me picking him up and putting him into a carrier.

08/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Flying Tiger was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. He rolls onto his side and stretches when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Flying Tiger remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Flying Tiger comes to the front, head-butts the assessor’s hand, and remains in place for petting. Reaction to being picked up: Flying Tiger becomes tense (possibly due to his girth), but allows handling. As per previous owner, Flying Tiger is friendly and outgoing around strangers but hides from small children. He is relaxed and affectionate with another male cat, but may hiss when the other cat approaches his food. He hisses at the medium sized puppy to make sure he kept his distance, but has never bit or scratched anyone. His family describes him as friendly, independent, and quiet with a low energy level. Behavior Determination: Beginner Flying Tiger interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems.
