TIGER – A1037052
5-24-2015 Brooklyn
***GONE 05/24/15***TERRIFIC TIGER THE TABBY NEEDS NEW FRIEND! Take a look at that face! Tiger is a four year old loving house pet who sadly ended up at the shelter when his owner died and whoever took him in temporarily decided to dump him at the kill happy shelter. Tiger is described as friendly, talkative and healthy—although his former owner never bothered to have him neutered. He is a big boy at 13.6 lbs. which only means there is more of him to love. He is naturally stressed at the shelter and got slapped with a NH rating due to his fear. But this is definitely the kind of kitty who once he feels safe and secure, will surely decompress and return to his well-mannered affectionate self. Please offer Tiger a new “leash” on life. Contact a NH rescue to help write a happy ending to terrific Tiger’s sad tale. Remember fostering saves lives so please help even if you can only offer him a temporary home. Please don’t let this devoted house pet become another sad ACC stat. Make the call for this terrific tabby. Save a life. Make a difference.

05/21/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/21/15 14:05 Tiger is an tabby cat and was brought to the shelter as his owner passed away. He was found on the street as a kitten and the owner’s brother brought him home. A full profile was not obtained, but it was stated by a relative that Tiger has only lived with the the original adult owner and then when the owner passed- he lived with another adult. It is unknown how he is around children, dogs, or other cats. It was stated that Tiger is not too attention seeking, but when he does want attention, he will rub up near your ankles. He is said to have a medium activity level and is an indoor cat. He played with cat toys in his younger days, but does not anymore. The relative describes him as friendly, but shy and also talkitive. He will walk around meowing (even when he was with his owner). The relative is unsure why- but thinks it is because he is unaltered and looking for a mate. He as never seen a vet, but has never had health concerns. Tiger always uses his uncovered litter box. He does not have a scratching post and will scratch the rug at the home he is in. He will squirm when being given a bath in the tub, but allows it and never escalates to aggression. He isn’t bothered having his oat brushed or being picked up and held. In the last 4 months, he has not jumped on the couch, dining tables, kitchen counters, or human beds. He usually roams around the home paying no mind to the human, but will check in every once n a while and meow or graze the human for attention. He free feeds on dry Friskies all day and will sleep where he wants.

05/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Notes: Tiger was bought into the care center by a family member of the previous owner. We don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to was seeing during the evaluation. He seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. Tiger tries to flee and is extremely fearful. Tiger currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Reaction to assessor: at front of cage (3) When spoken quietly: at front of cage (3) Reaction to door cage opening: Tries to flee (3) Reaction to touch: moves away from me, tries to flee cage (4) Try picking cat up: not tolerant of this type of handling, very afraid, tries to flee.
