TIARA – A1047477
8-19-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 08/19/15*** POOR TIARA WAS BROUGHT IN BY AN ‘OWNER’ WHO STATED SHE ‘ATTACKS PEOPLE! YOU WOULD THINK ACC WOULD QUESTION THEM ABOUT WHY? Poor Tiara has a ‘new hope’ rating tonight which means she is ‘rescue only’. This poor cat was carted in by an ‘owner’ who stated she ‘attacks people’ and TIARA has been very defensive in her cage-but she would be if she felt frightened, threatened, and not safe. ACC doesn’t bother to find out why cats do some of what they do-and in this case, one wonders if TIARA was a mistreated cat? a ‘feral’ cat? (is so-who is this ‘owner’) or if in her 3 years she always ‘attacked people’? Is this a recent development? Cats who display aggressive behavior are displaying defensive behavior, it is fear motivated, purely defensive and it can be caused by many things. That said, poor TIARA won’t stand a chance unless she’s pulled out of there-for without someone offering her the space to decompress, this cat will die tomorrow at ACC, without help. Thats really not fair-this cat, an owner turn in, had something happen to her-and now, she is the victim that will pay. Can you be the one to save this girl now? See past this behavior that has earned her rescue only and give her a chance? Offer to foster her-and let her come around? Please be the person to see past the fear-into the sparkling little light behind all the defense. Save TIARA NOW!

Reaction to assessor: Tiara becomes stiff and alert upon approach. Her eyes dilate and her ears bend flat against her head when softly spoken to. She has tried to swat, is extremely uncomfortable in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling.
