10/08/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
A0933514 THOMAS Basic Information Thomas is a 2 year old neutered cream tabby that came in as an owner surrender. Owner adopted him 2 years ago from ACC when he was a 3 month old kitten and has had him since. She can no longer keep him because her new apartment does not allow pets. She hasn’t taken him to the vet since he was 3 months old but he will undergo a full medical examination. Social Life & Personality Thomas is relaxed and playful with children and has not had any contact with other cats or dogs. He is litter box trained and is kept indoors only. He has a high activity level and his owner describes him as playful, confident, shy, friendly, fearful, affectionate, quiet and independent. Behavior Issues Owner stated that Thomas scratches the carpet but does not display any other signs of behavior issues. He isn’t bothered with having his nails trimmed, enjoys to be picked up and held sometimes, is afraid of being out into the carrier and never has litter box accidents. Upon I take, Thomas displayed signs of fear. Due to an barking dog in the hall, he kept retreating into the carrier. Once removed from it, he allowed hisself to be collard but then jump right back into the carrier and his his face. For a New Family to Know Thomas uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. He likes to play with balls and cat nip toys and has a scratching post made out of carpet. When owner is home, Thomas tends to follow her around the house and be in the same room as her. He does not like being in the car and does become vocal. He eat dry good only and his favorite treats are shrimps and chicken chunks. Thomas sleeps anywhere in the house.

10/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Thomas does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Thomas does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Thomas becomes stiff, alert Reaction to touch: Thomas growls, strikes, does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: Did not attempt to pick up Thomas due to fractious behavior Behavior Determination: NewHope Thomas seems to not be thriving in this environment. At the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
