TEMPRANCE – A1039357
6-21-2015 Manhattan
*** GONE 06/21/2015*** Sweet TEMPRANCE is a spayed four year old female who was dropped off at ACC along with her friend AMELIA – A1039356, when her people moved where there were no pets allowed. One would wonder how important TEMPRANCE was to them-did they know she could be at risk of being killed? And she is now-for though TEMPRANCE aced her behavioral evaluations and solictied petting and attention, at the end of the day that didn’t matter-she was a cat who was homeless, and who ACC decided had enough time there. Now she needs you to save her life. TEMPRANCE is spayed, got along well with her cat friend AMELIA, enjoyed being petted and made much of. While she did appear to overstimulate, in an atmosphere like ACC cats might become more excited/nervous-barking dogs, banging doors, and strange people after being in a home….what cat wouldn’t be more prone to stress? Let this lovely come home with you and offer her a chance to know love again! SAVE TEMPRANCE tonight!!!

06/08/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/08/15 16:42 BASIC INFO: Temperance A1039357 is an approximately 4 year old domestic short haired cat. She was adopted from another out of state shelter, 4 years ago by the Family. The Family cannot keep the cat or the other one it came with because they moved to a place where pets are not allowed. SOCIALIZATION: Temperance is very friendly and seeks attention from strangers. She has lived with a 1, 3 and 9 year old child, of which she was very relaxed, respectful and affectionate with. She plays gentle with children and with adults. Temperance has lived with another cat of which she is very respectful of. She played gently with the other cat she lived with. She has spent time around a Husky of which she was fearful but was fine with a chihuahua. BEHAVIOR: Temperance enjoys riding in a car. Owners have never given her a bath or trimmed her nails. She enjoys having her coat brushed, being held and picked up. She is not bothered by being awaken or placed in a carrier. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: The best way to describe Temprance is by saying that she is friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, confident, assertive and quiet. She has a medium activity level. Owners favorite things about Temperance is that she plays hide and seek. Temperance favorite activities are hiding in boxes. At home, she tends to follow you around. She is mainly an indoor cat. She sleeps on a cat bed and is fed dry food. Special Kitty brand food. She is litter box trained and uses a regular litter box with clumping litter. She does not have a scratching post and instead uses a cardboard box to scratch on. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE: Temperance was very sweet and allowed all handling, photos and collaring.

06/11/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Temprance looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Temprance lying down on her cage bedding, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Temprance head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. However, her skin began to twitch during the touch then starts to groom herself, meow whine, and gentle nips at the hand. Placement determination: Experience / no child Initially Temprance solicits petting and attention, but after a few soft passes over the body he/she begins to nip at the assessor. This may be a sign of petting-induced aggression, where repeated physical contact results in discomfort for the cat, or it may be a sign of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Temprance becomes reactive. Treats should be used to reward appropriate responses to physical attention.
