07/28/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to Assessor: Tela was inside a hidey box upon approach. She doesn’t respond when softly spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Tela becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Tela tries to move away from the assessor’s hand and squeezes into the corner of the box. When the assessor flips the box around so she is exposed, she tries to look for an exit. When attempting to pet her, she hisses and swats at the assessor’s hand. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Tela is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
