TANK – A1043375
7-31-2015 Manhattan
***GONE 7/31/15***TANK IS FIVE MONTHS OLD, BUT PREVIOUS OWNER SAYS SHE’S HAD HER FOR A YEAR? TANK is a sweet, and somewhat shy girl the previous owner doesn’t seem to care about. She left TANK at ACC when Tank started having box issues, but never bothered to take TANK to the vet to find out what could be going on. (TANK is an intact female who will be spayed before being sent out to an adopter or rescue-but it’s not unusual for female cats who are not spayed to stop using the box-or it could be that her box is in too central a location. TANK is a sweet little girl, a little shy, but allowed all handling and enjoyed a bit of positive attention. But TANK will die for shyness and a cold-and tonight she really needs you. PLEASE SAVE TANK TONIGHT~

07/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tank is reported by her previous owner to be shy, but to warm up quickly. Her previous owner also states that she has lately been urinating outside the litterbox. We are unaware of what possible situation or medical condition may have caused this change in behavior and what, if any, modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior. We cannot be sure whether this behavior will continue in a different home environment, but we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. We also recommend that Tank be provided with numerous litterboxes throughout the house as she adjusts to her new living space. The extra boxes can be removed as she learns the space and successfully eliminates in her main litterbox(es). Reaction to assessor: Tank looks neutral in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Tank remains crouched down at the back of the cage, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Tank accepts the stroke, stands with tail slightly down, but began to head-butt the assessor’s hand while her eyes wander. Reaction to Being Picked up: She becomes antsy and jumps back into her cage. Placement determination: Experience Tank interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. Due to the reported litterbox issues, however, we recommend an experienced adopter comfortable with managing this should the behavior continue in Tank’s future home. Due to the very limited information available about Tank’s behavior in her previous home and about her previous living situation, we cannot predict with any certainty whether or not this behavior will persist.
