05/15/15 17:38 BASIC INFO Sugar’s family got her from a friend 6 years ago and surrendered her because they were evicted. SOCIALIZATION Sugar is shy with strangers for the first few minutes. She lived with children all ages from 4 years and older. She’s relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. She plays gently with people. She’s never bit anyone. She lived with her mother when she was young and they did well together. In her most recent home she lived with a small dog. They were relaxed, affectionate, and playful together. She swatted the dog (no claws) if she was being annoying/rough. BEHAVIOR Sugar scratched the wooden panel on the floor in the doorway but never had a scratching post. She’s relaxed in the car. She enjoys being brushed. She doesn’t mind being held but jumps down after a few minutes. She doesn’t mind being put in a carrier or woken up. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Sugar’s family describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, shy, quiet, and low energy. She follows her family around, stretches out in their laps, and loves to be rubbed. She often rubs herself all over them to solicit attention. She likes playing with string, stuffed toys, and catnip toys. She lived inside and slept on an ottoman. She ate dry and wet food and her favorite treat is spaghetti. She is littertrained and doesn’t have accidents. She used an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. INTAKE Sugar was easy to handle-pick up, pet, scan (negative), collar, photograph, and put in a kennel. She head butted us, bowed down with her rear end up, and rubbed her back and rear end against us. She didn’t resist/retreat/vocalize.

Reaction to assessor: Sugar was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. When softly spoken to, she comes to the front and tries to sniff the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Sugar remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Sugar pushes her head onto the assessor’s hand and begins to purr. After a little while, she starts to eat. Reaction to being picked up: Sugar becomes a little tense, but allows handling. As per previous owner, Sugar is shy with strangers for the first few minutes. She has lived with children and is relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with them. She plays gently with people. She has also lived with a small dog, in which she was relaxed, affectionate, and playful with. If the dog was being annoying or rough, she would swat at the dog without nails. They described her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, shy, quiet, and have a low energy level. Behavior Determination: Average Sugar interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. There is no known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
