When the family is home he will go his own place and when home alone he is usually well behaved. Stanley eats both wet and dry food. Upon intake Stanley was receptive to introduction but shy for handling. Stanley attempted to flee but was not insistent of defensive for this. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Stanley allowed petting and returned to the carrier when it was presented to him.

12/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Stanley lives with two adults and one teenager. Stanley also lived in the home with a small dog. He is receptive and playful towards the dog. He is an indoor cat and has never been exposed to small chidlren. If new visitors come to the home he will flee. Stanley uses a closed litter box with fresh step litter which he uses but in the last month he has been having trouble with this. Stanley’s previous owner reports that he was eliminating outside the litterbox but we are unaware of what, if any, modification steps were taken to try and address this behavior. Please note as well that Stanley’s previous living situation may have contributed to the behavior seen. We cannot be sure whether this behavior will continue in a different home environment, but we recommend that potential adopters be comfortable with management and modification techniques for elimination outside the litterbox should this behavior continue in a home environment. We also recommend that Stanley be provided with numerous litterboxes throughout the house as he/she adjusts to his/her new living space. The extra boxes can be removed as he learns the space and successfully defecates in his main litterbox. Reaction to assessor: Stanley does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed When spoken quietly: Stanley does not come to front but looks at you calm and relaxed Reaction to door cage opening: Stanley remains calm Reaction to touch: Stanley allows petting and attention with a slow approach Try picking cat up: Stanley is tolerant of this type of handling. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Stanley was displaying calm behavior, did not come to the front of the kennel but interacts with the Assessor, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Due to Stanley’s litter box problem his behavior is appropriate for experienced cat parents.
