04/13/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Spelman was at the front, meowing. When softly spoken to, she continues to meow and reaches out with her paw. Reaction to cage door opening: Spelman remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Spelman head-butts the assessor’s hand, remains in place for petting, and begins to purr. Reaction to being picked up: Spelman remains calm and allows handling. Note: Spelman was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She gave mixed signals upon intake; she was growling and purring at the same time, and was difficult to handle. She was tense during her initial medical exam, but was tolerant to handling. She has, however, acclimated well into the shelter environment, solicits attention, and appreciates petting from the behavior assessor. Behavior Determination: Beginner Spelman interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
