08/29/15 19:20hrs Sophie is a spayed 10 year old domestic shorthair cat that has been cared for by her owner for the past 18 months. She is being surrendered due to her conflicting with the two resident cats in the home. SOCIAL LIFE & PERSONALITY Sophie is described as an independent and friendly cat that prefers to hide from everyone. Sophie allows petting especially behind her ears and on her back by her owner. She has lived with two other resident cats in the home and eventually began tolerating them. She will sit alongside them and eat with them but rarely interacts with them. Her owner stated that Sophie will hiss at the resident cats if they went to close to her. BEHAVIOR Sophie is accustomed to grooming herself. She will allow her owner to brush her for short periods of time. She does not like to be picked up and will meow and struggle to get away. Her owner stated that she is litter box trained using a hooded litter box. She sometimes defecates outside her litter box if her litter box is dirty. She tends to hide a lot but will stay in the same room as her owner. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Sophie likes to given her Cat Sensation treats early in the morning. She likes to play with only catnip filled toys. She will jump in it and roll around in it. She has a carpeted scratching post that uses. She is fed dry cat food. She likes to sleep in covered spaces. DURING INTAKE Sophie remained still towards the rear of her carrier. She allowed petting but remained motionless. She was collared, scanned for a microchip (negative) and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.

As per previous owner, Sophie is independent and friendly, but may prefer to hide from people. She appreciates petting especially behind her ears and on her back. She has lived with two other cats, and eventually began tolerating them. She sat and ate with them, but rarely interacts with them. If they get too close to her, she will hiss. She allows brushing, but only for short periods of time. She does not like being picked up and will meow to struggle away. She eliminates outside her litter box sometimes when it is dirty. Reaction to assessor: Sophie remains calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Sophie rolls onto her side and begins to knead. Reaction to cage door opening: Sophie remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Sophie comes to the front, head-butts, purrs, and leans on the assessor. Reaction to being picked up: Sophie remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Sophie interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
