**SAFE 09/17/15** Neutered SNOW had lived with two adults and four other cats, and probably thought life was pretty good. Then along came some sort of “personal problems” for the decision-maker in the family, and all of the cats were surrendered to the ACC. Because, you know, when life gets complicated, it’s a great idea to get rid of those quiet best friends who love you unconditionally, right? WRONG! Now SNOW is missing his family, he has been warehoused in a cell at the ACC, and he is down to his last precious moments of life. Why? Because $35 per cat can make your life so much less complicated, at the ACC, by taking those cats out of the picture. SNOW is going to die tomorrow because of something his former owner may or may not have been going through, unless WE can find a foster/adopter for him, tonight!

09/08/15 19:01 Snow is a 3 year old gray tabby male neutered domestic shorthair cat who is being surrendered because the owner can no longer take care of him. Snow has been in the home for almost 3 years. Snow lived with 2 adults, no children and 4 other cats. Snow is receptive to the other cats in the home but is most affectionate with the one that is his litter mate. Snow uses a common litter box with the other cats that is filled with fresh step litter. Snow has not been exposed to dogs and is an indoor cat. Snow has not been bathed and has not had a nail trim. Snow likes to get brushed and does not mind being picked up. Snow does mind going into a carrier. Snow likes to play swat and chase with objects and uses a scratching pad made of rug. He will also scratch on cardboard boxes in the home. Snow is independent and when the family is home he will go to his own space. Snow will approach on his own when he wants petting. Snow eats both wet and dry food. Upon intake Snow was not receptive to introduction and once out of the carrier attempted to flee. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) and photographed in the carrier but did not collar.

09/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Snow has lived with two adults and four other cats. He is receptive to the other cats in the home, but is most affectionate with his one litter mate. He was kept indoors and has not been exposed to dogs. He likes to be brushed and doesn’t mind being picked up. Snow will approach on his own when he wants petting and is independent. Reaction to Assessor: Snow was hiding underneath his bedding upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Snow peeks his head out a little and blinks slowly. Reaction to cage door opening: Snow remains motionless. Reaction to touch: As the assessor removes the blanket, Snow squeezes himself into the corner of the cage. He allows petting all over, but twitches when touched on his body, is immobile, and blinks throughout the interaction. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Snow tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
