*** SAFE 05/19/15 *** SUBTLE SMOKEY IS A GUY WITH A BIG HEART….A staff member writes, Smokey is a big gentle giant with his appropriately put name, he has a coat the color of smoke that suits him just perfectly. Our experts say he is about 3 years old and has a long happy life to live with his forever family. Previously being in a home with his former family, he can be a great fit for just about anyone looking for a big fluff ball to love and add to their own family. 05/06/15 11:20 Basic information Smokey is an approximately 3 year old DSH. Smokey was a gift from a friend. He is being surrendered because the owner has to move and can not bring smokey with him because the building does not allow pets. We offered counseling and asked if any family or friends can take him but he was set with his decision. He does not have any known health problems. Socialization Around Strangers, Smokey is very friendly and outgoing. He is very playful and plays gently with adults and children. He has spent time with children the ages of 2 and 3 years of age. Smokey has not been around other cats or dogs. He has never bitten anyone or another animal. Behavior The owner does not know how Smokey would react to baths or brushing because it has never been done. The cat isn’t bothered by being held, put in a carrier, or disturbed while sleeping. For a new family to know The owner describes smokey as very friendly, affectionate, and playful. One of smokeys favorite things to do is play with his toys. He loves balls and stuffed toys. The cat has been mostly kept indoors and loves to sleep on his cat bed. He is litter boxed trained and eats purina cat food (dry). Smokey does have a scratching post which is made out of carpet. Behavior during intake During the intake, Smokey was very calm, meowed very loudly and was curious of his surroundings. He allowed to be carried out of the crate he was in, to be photographed. He allowed scanning (negative) and collaring. He was very easy to handle and did not resist when put into the carrier.
